Kaule Agroforestry and organic Farm

Agriculture is the mainstay of the people of Nepal more than 80% depend on it.Among the developmental activities agriculture has been on priority to meet the food demand of rapidly growing population in the country. To increase the yield of various crops the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has created environmental and ecological crises..

Alina Schick, the Program Director of Kaule EV

Under various cropping patterns Agroforestry is found most suitable for sustaining agriculture and environment. Agroforestry is an integrated self sustaining land management system which involves deliberate introduction of woody components including trees, shrubs etc with agricultural crop including livestock simultaneously on the same land management unit and at the same time meeting the ecological requirements as well as socio-eco needs of the people. In order to meet the demands of food and fodder for our ever increasing human and livestock population the adoption of agroforestry would be a suitable step.

One of the main objective of agroforestry is to increase the biomass production per unit area and the productivity is an integral part of land management systems.
It has also been observed that by introducing multipurpose nitrogen fixing trees in agroforestry system along with crops not only help to increase the biomass productivity but also improve the soil and climate.

One of our previous volunteers, Ms Alina Schick, enrolling doctorate set up an Agroforestery farm project in her initiative at Kaule, Nuwakot. The agroforestery project was registered in Germany and Nepal as a “ Kaule EV”. Currently Kaule Ev is working with 16 house holds, who are considered as a tribal group Tamang. Kaule EV helps farmers by introducing new technique of agriculture, producing different kinds of crops, fruits, herbs in a limited land . For further information you can visit the website
